    Schwing Bioset is on the lookout for a detail-oriented, proactive, and strategic Purchaser to strengthen our Fabrication Team in Somerset, WI. If you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are passionate about building strong supplier relationships, optimizing inventory, and ensuring top-tier product quality, this role is for you.

    As a Purchaser, you’ll play a critical role in procurement planning, supplier negotiation, inventory control, and cost management. Your contributions will directly support project success, on-time delivery, and company profitability.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with current and prospective suppliers.

    • Create and manage purchase orders—verify specifications, pricing, and get departmental approvals.

    • Track order progress, expedite deliveries, and confirm receipt of goods.

    • Proactively address shortages by reviewing and updating project shortage reports.

    • Evaluate and compare supplier quotes and pricing; update vendor quote records accordingly.

    • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to maximize value and reliability.

    • Monitor product quality and ensure it meets company and customer standards.

    • Continuously identify cost-saving opportunities and new sourcing strategies.

    • Provide regular purchasing recommendations to upper management.

    • Collaborate closely with inventory teams, engineers, and project managers.

    • Maintain organized procurement documentation and support compliance with company policies.

    • Drive process improvements to boost efficiency without compromising quality.


    What You Bring to the Table

    • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Communications, or related field preferred.

    • 3+ years of experience with SAP or a similar MRP system is essential.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

    • Familiarity with engineering prints, custom parts, and metal fabrication.

    • Understanding of—or willingness to learn—the steel industry.

    • Strong negotiation and communication skills; able to influence with confidence.

    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities.

    • Proven ability to multitask under tight deadlines in a collaborative team environment.

    • Willingness to work additional hours when required.
