Stewartstown Installation

July 2008

Schwing Bioset is pleased to announce the start-up of the new Bioset Class A lime stabilization system at the Stewartstown STP in Stewartstown PA. Stewartstown is a growing community between York, PA and Baltimore, MD.

Like many communities, Stewartstown understands the importance of beneficial reuse but was concerned with odor issues due to the proximity of residential areas near the plant. The key features that attracted Stewartstown to the Bioset process were the odor control, dust control and the flexibility to design the equipment to fit into their existing available space. The process is fully enclosed containing odors and dust during treatment. The technology is also compact and was customized to fit in an existing garage bay, eliminating the need for additional structures or odor control equipment.

The low maintenance and operating cost along with the overall system reliability prove to be an excellent solution for Stewartstown to consistently produce a product that is safe, inexpensive, and in demand.

Schwing Bioset delivers more MONSTER pumps

January 2008

Six KSP 220 piston pumps with 450kW (600 hp) power packs will travel across the 2008 "ice road" to Lac de Gras, a diamond mine operated by Diavik situated 300 km by air northeast of Yellowknife. Engineered by Golder Associates in Sudbury, ON, the KSP 220's are designed to each deliver 185 m3/hr (815 gpm), at 90 bar (1,305 psi) pressure continuously. There are three pumping stations, each station including two pumps that are arranged in series feeding into common pipelines. The pumps are synchronized to switch at the same time and provide steady flow of material. As a critical component in the highly engineered paste plant, performance, reliability, and experience are essential to a successful mining operation making Schwing Bioset the natural choice for a pumping partner.

Schwing Bioset delivers BIG pumps to De Beers

January 2007

Two KSP 220 piston pumps with 600kW (800 hp) power packs are traveling across the "ice road" to Snap Lake, a diamond mine operated by De Beers in a remote region of northern Canada. Engineered by AMEC in Vancouver, BC, the KSP 220's will be the largest piston pumps in North America delivering 135 m3/hr (600 gpm), at 85 bar (1,230 psi) pressure continuously. The piston pumps are a critical component in the highly engineered paste plant so performance, reliability, and experience were key factors during AMEC's equipment evaluations. Schwing Bioset looks forward to being a part of De Beers first diamond mine outside of Africa, and also the first underground diamond mining operation in Canada.
