Coal Processing

The Schwing Bioset Process Technology for coal and other fuel preparation includes many applications and benefits, including:
 
  • Surface & internal moisture removal for improving heat rate and combustion heat available from coals
  • Making use of lower value heat sources at power plants (condensate, LP steam, stack heat) to improve overall plant efficiency (i.e. higher power generation or end product production per unit of feed) with fuel improvement and side benefit of feedstock pre-heating.

  • Reduced emissions (greenhouse gases) and resulting ash from downstream processing based on the reduced feed rate requirements
  • Moisture reduction under controlled conditions to achieve precise moisture targets in preparing coals for IGCC, Coal-to-Liquids, and other gasification applications
  • Processing can be accomplished in a low oxygen atmosphere to reduce/eliminate explosion risks – through closed gas loop configurations. Less reactive materials can be processed in partially closed, and even open loop or once through fluidizing gas solutions 
  • With friable coals, particle size reduction effects are more pronounced on the oversized fraction
  • These technologies are also well suited to moisture reduction in preparation of other fuels and feedstocks such as wood chips, petroleum coke, and a variety of carbonaceous materials.
